Interventional Radiology is a relatively new and dynamic field of medicine where the goal is treatment of disease utilizing minimally invasive techniques. These techniques are often an effective alternative to traditional open surgical treatment, and are usually performed under local anesthesia and some form of imaging guidance during an outpatient visit or a short 23-hour hospital stay.

Summit Radiology has a dedicated staff of Interventional Radiologists with specialized training in these techniques. There are a variety of vascular and non-vascular disease conditions that can be treated with minimally invasive therapy including peripheral vascular disease (PVD) - PVD leg pain; Renovascular hypertension; venous thrombotic disease - deep venous thrombosis (DVT); uterine fibroids; liver tumors - metastatic liver tumors; aortic aneurysm; and carotid arterial disease.
